Dog Licenses/ Leash Law
Maryville City Ordinance requires all dogs over the age of six months to be licensed. A 2011 dog license tag may be obtained at the following locations:

The tags are cost $25 per unaltered animal, or $5 for each spayed or neutered animal. To obtain this license, you must present a rabies vaccination receipt issued within the last twelve months. License renewal is required by December 31 of each year. Questions may be directed to the Humane Society. Be sure to ask about their pet recovery database program.

Leash Law

Maryville has a leash law requiring dogs to be confined to your premises or under your restraint at all times. If not, the dog is subject to be picked up and impounded at the Nodaway Animal Shelter, operated by the New Nodaway Humane Society. The Nodaway Animal Shelter is located at 829 South Depot Street. Telephone Number 562-3333.

A summons may be issued to the dog owner for violation of the Leash Law.

Nodaway County Animal Shelter

The Nodaway County Animal Shelter is located at 829 South Depot Street. The shelter is open Monday through Friday. 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday and 12:00 Noon to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday. Offices are closed on Sunday.

All animals are wormed and vaccinated upon entry. There is a $15.00 charge for animals released by their owner for placement into the shelter. Impounded animal boarding fees are $5.00 per day.

Adoption fees range from $40.00 to $50.00 and include vaccination and worming, spay/neuter, product samples and an ID tag.

The shelter offers microchip implant services so that lost pets can be more quickly identified and owners contacted.
